Guide
Guide to customizing trade show table covers
Custom table covers, also called branded tablecloths or table drapes, put your brand at eye level and hide storage under the table. They're one of the cheapest ways to make a basic table look professional.
This guide is part of the trade show booth accessories series.
Which styles are there?
| Style | Look | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Throw | Drapes to the floor | Most shows |
| Fitted | Tailored, box-like | Premium look |
| Stretch | Tight, modern | Contemporary brands |
| Runner | Strip over the table | Low-cost branding |
Which fabrics and print methods work?
Polyester twill or stretch fabric with dye-sublimation for full colour; screen printing for simple one-colour logos.
How do you choose the right size?
Measure the table you'll use. Show tables are commonly 6 ft or 8 ft long. A throw cover should reach the floor on the front and sides; the back can be open for storage access.
Design tips
Logo and one message on the front panel, brand colours, nothing at knee height. Keep it simple: the cover is a background, not a brochure.
Common mistakes
Logos too low, creased covers from folding, fabrics that show stains and colours that don't match the stand. Carry a travel steamer.
An alternative to table covers?
A solid-wood console table or cabinet looks premium on its own and stores literature without a cover. Furniture and interiors exhibitors can use pieces from their range at trade pricing.
Which fabrics work best?
| Fabric | Feel | Wrinkle resistance | Print quality |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polyester twill | Smooth, matte | Good | Excellent with dye-sub |
| Stretch fabric (spandex blend) | Tight, modern | Very good | Good |
| Polyester poplin | Light | Fair | Good |
| Cotton blends | Natural | Poor | Varies |
Polyester twill is the most common choice because it prints well, resists stains and travels well.
How should designs be placed?
Put your logo and a short message on the front panel, centred and high enough to be seen over people standing in front. Use the sides only for a repeat of the logo. Avoid detail near the floor, which will be hidden by feet and bags.
How do you care for table covers?
Most polyester covers can be washed on a gentle cycle and steamed or ironed on low heat on the reverse. Fold loosely or roll for transport, and carry a travel steamer to remove creases on site.
When are table covers the wrong choice?
When the table itself can look good. A handmade solid-wood console or counter needs no cover and adds warmth to the stand. For furniture brands, a beautiful piece from the range is a better use of the front of the stand than a covered folding table.
How much does customization add?
Full-colour dye-sublimation costs more than a one-colour logo, and fitted covers cost more than throws. Order early to avoid rush fees, and choose evergreen designs so covers can be reused for years.
How do table covers fit into the stand's overall design?
The table cover should match the stand's colours and fonts and not compete with the back wall. If the back wall carries the main message, keep the cover simple: logo and perhaps a short line. If the stand has a minimal back wall, the table cover can carry more.
How long do table covers last?
Polyester covers last many shows if washed and stored properly. Replace covers that are faded, stained or carry outdated branding.
Which colours work best for table covers?
Use a dominant brand colour or a neutral that matches the stand, with the logo in a contrasting colour. Darker colours hide marks better during a busy show; very light covers show stains quickly.
How do table covers support storage?
Floor-length throws hide boxes and bags under the table; leave the back open so staff can reach them easily.

Frequently asked questions
What materials are best for table covers?+
Polyester twill or stretch fabric: durable, wrinkle-resistant and printable with dye-sublimation.
How do you choose the right size table cover?+
Measure the table. Folding show tables are commonly 6 ft or 8 ft long and about 30 in wide and high; choose a throw cover that reaches the floor or a fitted one sized to the table.
Can you print a logo on a table cover?+
Yes. Dye-sublimation prints full colour; place the logo on the front panel where it's visible over people standing in front.
What can you use instead of a table cover?+
A good-looking counter or piece of furniture, such as a solid-wood console or cabinet, that doesn't need covering.
